Mennonite farmers in Chihuahua play a significant role in Mexico's wheat production. Chihuahua, along with other northern states such as Sonora and Baja California, contributes to Mexico's wheat output, focusing primarily on durum wheat. In recent years, the total wheat production area in Mexico has remained stable at about 700,000 hectares, with Chihuahua being a key contributor. In the 2021/2022 cycle, Mexico produced approximately 3.3 million tons of wheat on 546,000 hectares, with Chihuahua's production being a significant part of this total.
