Processed Cotton
Mennonite communities in Chihuahua, Mexico, are notable producers of high-quality cotton. They produce approximately 80% of Mexico's cotton, utilizing both conventional and genetically modified (GM) seeds until recent government restrictions on GM seeds and glyphosate began impacting production. Despite these challenges, Mennonite farmers continue to be a significant part of the cotton industry, producing thousands of bales annually.
Additionally, Mennonite farmers are starting to cultivate premium Pima cotton, known for its superior quality and softness. This development showcases their commitment to innovation and excellence in agriculture, aiming to meet the growing demand for high-quality cotton in both local and international markets.
